Agarase Production by Pseudomonas aeruginosa ZSL-2 in Solid-State Fermentation

Production of extracellular agarase by Pseudomonas aeruginosa ZSL-2 was studied in solid state fermentation. Wheat bran was found to be the best substrate among the available solid substrates tested. The appropriate moisture content, incubation time, temperature and inoculumsize were determined. The production of agarase reached its peak in 48h.Ahigh level of enzymewas produced inwheat branmoistened with minimal mineral salt (MMS) solution at a substrate to moistening agent ratio 1:2.5 (w/v). The optimum temperature for agarase production was found to be at 37oC and pH8.0.
