Determination of the Stability Constants of Mixed Ligand Complexes of Phenytoin Sodium Drug and Glutamine by Potentiometric Method

Mixed ligand stability constants of studies on Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) transition metal complexes with antiepileptic drugs (L) and amino acid (R) have been determined pH metrically at 27oC temperature and 0.1 M ionic strength (NaClO4) in aqueous solution. The formation of various possible species has been evaluated by computer program and discussed in terms of various relative stability parameters. The ternary complexes show stability order as – log k = 1:1:1 Zn(II) > Ni(II) > Cu(II)) ≈ Co(II) 1:1:2 Cu(II) > Ni(II) > Zn(II) > Co(II)
