Photocatalytic Decomposition of Malachite Green over Lead Chromate Powder

Lead chromate powder has been used as a photocatalyst for the decomposition of malachite green dye in aqueous solution. The rate of decomposition was affected by different parameters such as pH, amount of photocatalyst, concentration of malachite green and intensity of light. This reaction proceeds throuth oxidation by hydroxyl radical as confirmed bt the radical scavenger, 2-propanol. A plausible mechanism has been proposed for this photocatalytic degradation.
