Properties of ion exchangers produced from different pulps

Soda and peroxyacid pulp were prepared from different cotton baggies and characterized byFT-IR,X-ray diffraction,TGA, andDTAthermal analysis. The crystallinity, thermal stability, and efficiency of peroxide pulp are higher than that of soda pulp. Incorporation of functional groups e.g., - COOH and -H2PO3 into pulp increases its efficiency toward metal ions uptake, The absorption of metal ions depend on the incorporated functional groups and metal ion radii as well as electronegativity ofmetal ions.
