Reductive leaching of Rosetta ilmenite in sulfuric acid solutions

The sulfate route for digestion ilmenite ores has been applied upon Rosetta concentrate, however, under a variety of modified conditions. Instead of working in an almost solid state, it was found interesting to explore the possibility of working in a fluid state by working in a relatively low solid/ liquid ratio of 1/5 to 1/4. In the meantime, the possibility of applying the sulfate route upon mixed ilmenite/Ti slag was investigated; a matter which would realize a dual benefit; namely increasing input TiO2 assay and ensuring better reduction. In this case, the applied S/L ratio has been varied from 1/8 to 1/6.
