De-inked Pulp waste Sludge Activated carbon (DIPSAC) has been found to be a promising material for adsorptive removal of Rhodamine B (RhB) and Acid Orange 7 (AO7) from aqueous solutions. Physico-chemical parameters like dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, solution pH, temperature and contact time have been varied to study the adsorption phenomenon. Favorable adsorption of RhB occurs at around pH 3.9 and for AO7 is pH 2.0. The maximum adsorption capacity of the DIPSAC for RhB and AO7 has been calculated to be 11.51 and 12.88 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption process is in conformity with Freundlich isotherm for both RhB and AO7. In both the cases, adsorption occurs very fast initially and attains equilibrium within 60 min. Kinetic results suggest that the adsorption of RhB and AO7 onto DIPSAC followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model.
