Spectrophotometric estimation of ofloxacin in bulk drug and pharmaceutical dosage forms

Two simple, precise and economical spectrophotometricmethods have been developed for the estimation of Ofloxacin in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations. Ofloxacin shows a sharp peak at 302.0 nmin first order derivative spectrum with n =1(MethodA). Ofloxacin also shows a zero absorbance at wavelength 320.0 nm, which is, based on zero crossingmethod (Method B). The drug follows Beer-Lambert’s lawin the concentration range of 2-20g/ ml in both the methods. Results of the analysis were validated statistically and are found satisfactory.
