Spectrophotometric Estimation Of Tolterodine Tartarate In Bulk And Tablet Formulation

Two simple, accurate, rapid and sensitive methods were developed for the estimation of tolterodine tartarate(TT) in bulk and tablet formulation. Method A and B describes simple UV spectrophotometric and colorimetric method in methanol respectively. In method A, methanolic solution of TT gives λmax at 283 nm. In method B, tolterodine tartarate forms blue colour with Folin Ciacaltau reagent in 0.5N sodium hydroxide which shows λmax at 720 nm. Molar absorptivity of the drug was found to be at 2.1×104 and 3.021×104 for method A and B respectively. The Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 10-60μg/ml and 5-40μg/ ml for method A and B respectively. The developed method has been successfully applied to the analysis of tolterodine tartarate(TT) in tablet formulation.
