Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of N-aryl amino-4-acetamido-2-ethoxy benzamides

4-acetamido-2-ethoxy benzoyl hydrazine (2) obtains by reacting hydrazine with methyl-4-acetamido-2-ethoxy benzoate. Further, compound (2) was condensed with different aromatic acid chloride in the presence of pyridine to afforded new N-arylamino-4-acetamido-2-ethoxy benzamides in good yields (65 to 80 %). The structure of newly synthesized compounds was confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, Mass spectral studies and elemental analysis. All the synthesized compounds have been screener for antimicrobial activity.
