Synthesis, Characterization And DC Conductivity Studies Of Polypyrrole – BaTiO3 Composites

In-situ polymerization of pyrrole was carried out in the presence of BaTiO3 (BT) to synthesize polypyrrole – BaTiO3 composites (PPy/BT) by chemical oxidation method. The PPy/BT composites have been synthesized with various compositions viz., 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 wt % of BaTiO3 in pyrrole. The polypyrrole – BaTiO3 composites were characterized by employing X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). The surface morphology of the composites was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The dc conductivity was studied in the temperature range from 40–2000C. The dimensions of BaTiO3 particles in the matrix have a greater influence on the conductivity values. ï›™ 2006 Trade Science Inc. - INDIA.
