Many Plant Biochemists may now design and make a novel gene or DNA construct in a few weeks for a reasonable price (around $10005000 per gene) because of the expanding capabilities of synthetic biology. In addition to traditional Plant Biochemistry & Physiology research activities, the emerging synthetic biology capability, combined with the increasing demand for various plant products such as advanced biofuels and pharmaceuticals-related products, may re-energize the field of Plant Biochemistry & Physiology.
